Job Search Ideas: Affiliate Programs |
Whether you have just graduated, taken a maternity leave, got redundant
or understood that you need some extra money, there is some job search
that you will have to do. While you keep looking, refreshing your job
search engine, writing CVs, and going for interviews let me tell you
about affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is when some websites
are used to increase the traffic of other website. What does it have to
do with you? – Well, the traffic does not increase by itself,
there has to be a mediator who connects a customer and the target
website in the network. These mediators are called
‘affiliates’ and target websites have online
affiliate programs, under which any affiliate can get some reward. The
reward of course is subject to the success of your affiliate business,
i.e. to the amount of visitors and customers that have come to the
website thank to your work. Usually, the reward for a customer is
higher than the one for the visitor and their number is calculated with
special affiliate marketing software that you have to download in order
to participate in online affiliate programs.
Some people treat affiliate marketing as a source of perquisites. They
place a link at their blog and forget about it: if somebody click the
link and they get a reward – good, if not – nothing
much.
Others make it a real business, using different kinds of marketing
techniques and even organizing affiliate business chains and making
some worthy profit. It’s up to you to choose how active you
will participate in online affiliate programs but there is no reason
not to give it a try.
